Celebrate the 2010 Vernal Equinox in a beautiful setting at Skyline Church, UCC in Oakland Hills. Taize chanting, labyrinth walk, and a special concert featuring musician Barbara Hamm with other guest musicians and performers. All donation proceeds will go to UCC’s Haiti Disaster Relief Fund.

At the suggestion of one of our parents and the encouragement of all of them, Skyline will begin a one-a-month Saturday morning play day for children of church parents and their invited friends to leave their children for the morning so parents have time to be together, time to run errands, time to do taxes (!) time to go shopping, time to take a nap!!

Parents would take turns providing the childcare, assisted by a member of the church CY&F team. This idea came out of our Saturday morning childcare for parents to do Christmas shopping. The first play day will be in March.

Talk to Sally, Interim CY&F Ministries Coordinator to sign up.

“Extended Families” invite clusters of cross-generational church members to come together for fun and fellowship and to make a special commitment to each other to enter into sustained on-going relationship. These “families”, planning their own activities, would meet on some regular basis for potluck dinners, to go to the zoo or the beach or to someone’s home to play board games or to do activities together of their own choosing.

Extended Families are made up on older adults, young adults, teenagers, children and babies…..people we covenant to come to know each other in special, deeper than only Sunday morning ways….having fun together, supporting each other in times of transition and change, celebrating each others victories and successes and walking together in times of loss or crisis.

There will be an organizational meeting sometime towards the end of March to learn more about these covenant groups. Watch for further information in the weeks ahead. Plan to attend and bring your questions.

Come celebrate the Spirit of Easter where we welcome ALL of God’s people. Experience fabulous music and an inspiring message with a spectacular view of the Oakland Hills.

We commend the artists who participated in this special show, revealing more of themselves to us and the public, and further uplifting and enhancing our sanctuary with their beautiful work. Our artists in this show are quite diverse — ranging from a college student’s usage of recycled materials; an architect; a photographer who is also an ordained minister; to teachers and healthcare providers who are also artists.

Ash Wednesday will be marked with a powerful multimedia service of healing and repentance for the journey through Lent.

The service will be led by seminarian Beth Rogers, asking us to reflect and take a moment to pause in our busy lives, seeking our way in the wilderness. Music, candlelight, reflections, and the imposition of ashes will all be part of the evening.

WED Evenings, 6-8 PM, 2/24 – 3/24

Reclaiming the ancient religious practices of music, candlelight, meditation, mind/body prayer, and chant, we invite you to a special series of services each Wednesday throughout Lent. Join us for a special evening of the above practices, along with walking the labyrinth, followed by a potluck meal.

Please bring a pair of socks to wear for our indoor mind/body prayer. All are welcome; flexible if you miss a week.

This event is open to the community at large, so please invite friends!

The labyrinth is regarded as a metaphor for life. It is a contemplative walk, requiring no previous knowledge, skill, or experience. Facilitators will be present during the Lenten series, “From Darkness to Light,” if you have questions or concerns, or simply want to share your experience. Many find this a way to relieve stress, pray, be open, connect with God, and/or their own deepest core.

This is a new way to experience your own journey, no matter where you are. Welcome!
