Alana has been teaching since 2005. She is from the Peninsula and grew up in a Jewish household with a very culturally diverse family. She loves to travel and has been lucky enough to live abroad twice. She obtained her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in Early Childhood Education from Mills College in 2014. Her Bachelor’s degree is from UC Santa Cruz in Community Studies, with an emphasis in Public Health Education. Alana has worked in a variety of education settings: large day-care facilities, home-based preschools, boarding schools, religious-based centers, and taking care of younger family members in her large, extended family. Alana’s teaching philosophy is patience, patience, patience! – and that children learn best through play.
